Please note: The Tasmania Fire Service does not offer short-term, seasonal or immediate volunteer placements. All brigade volunteers are recruited as ongoing members and must complete onboarding and training before participating in brigade activities.

Volunteer Recruitment Update

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Tasmania Fire Service.

As we enter the bushfire season, our brigades are focused on preparedness and operational response activities. Expressions of Interest submitted between 1 November 2026 and 28 February 2027 will be placed on a temporary waitlist and reviewed after the bushfire season.

You are encouraged to submit your Expression of Interest, and we will contact you once recruitment activities resume. Please note that submitting an Expression of Interest does not guarantee placement with a brigade.

Please be aware that new volunteers cannot be deployed to emergency incidents and must complete the required onboarding and training activities before becoming operational.
