Fire Extinguisher Guide

The Tasmania Fire Service have now released a 2007 revised Guide for the Selection and Location of Portable Fire Extinguishers and Fire Blankets. This document has been reviewed to cater for the release of Australian Standard 1851 – 2005 and provides updated advice to assist in the selection and installation of portable fire extinguishers and fire blankets in and around buildings and supersedes the previous guide dated May 2004. It also contains a schedule of works for maintenance purposes for both portable fire extinguishers and fire blankets as set out in Australian Standard 1851 - 2005. In the event that uncertainty still exists once you have referred to the Guide, it is recommended that additional advice be sought from the relevant Council or the Tasmania Fire Service (Building Safety Unit).
