TFS News and Events

A short story about our recent involvement in the National Fire Cadet Championships in NSW

In April we sent 18 cadet members to Penrith Lakes in New South Wales to represent the TFS in the 2009 National Fire Cadet Championships. Young people were encouraged to apply and we selected six cadets from each region to make up our three teams.

We all had a great time in NSW. Despite the unfamiliar NSW equipment, each team worked well together and performed well in the events. These included a range of fire fighting activities and well as challenging leadership and problem-solving activities. At the presentation ceremony each cadet received a medal for their involvement in the events.

Cadets also went ten-pin bowling, visited the Fire Museum. Some also did some sight seeing, including the harbour bridge and the Sydney Opera House.

Everyone had a great time and learned a lot about themselves and each other. The TFS is very proud of how our cadets represented their state and the way they performed in the events.
