Pearce Basin, Southwest

The fire started on 22 December in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area (TWWHA) and has burnt predominately in a south easterly direction.

The fire has burnt through two main areas, one to the north of Twelvetrees Range and the other to the south, in the Junction Range.

The fire is currently being controlled and will be patrolled at regular intervals. There may be fire activity within the burnt area for some time as well as an increase in smoke depending on wind conditions.
