Mount Montgomery, south of Penguin

A fuel reduction burn was conducted at Penguin, as part of the state-wide Fuel Reduction Program which is aimed at reducing the bushfire risk to help protect lives and communities.

This burn is approximately 445 hectares in size.

The fire is being patrolled at regular intervals.

If there is any fire activity causing you concern please report it to the TFS by calling triple zero (000).

During burning operations public access to this area will be restricted. The public is asked to remain well out of the burn site while the burn is taking place and for the following few days. Please comply with directions from staff or any signs if you are in the area.
While the fire intensity will be low, it will generate flames, smoke and ash. People with medical conditions are advised to have a personal plan for avoiding smoke from the burn. Community Information:

The total area of this burn will be approximately 100 hectares, and is likely to take 3 days to complete. Smoke may persist some days afterwards depending on wind conditions.

A number of tracks will be closed from the 5th of March to the 9th of March to enable burning and hazardous tree operations to be conducted.
Aircraft and fire crews will be in the area for duration of this operation.
